Where to tie the knot

Directly opposite The Olde Rectory is the lovely Parish church of St. John, an impressive Norman church comfortably seating up to 120 guests, featuring a beautiful mosaic reredos to admire whilst making your vows. A stroll down the drive and across a leafy lane will have you at the church door in just a minute or two (no excuses for arriving late ladies!) providing the perfect romantic setting for your wedding or blessing. Since you’ll be just a stroll away, you can avoid the added cost of wedding cars and better still, your church floral decorations can be reused to adorn the reception marquee once the ceremony is over.

Whether you are planning a civil ceremony, a church wedding or a simple church blessing, there are some extraordinarily picturesque alternative locations nearby in which to ‘tie the knot’.

The tiny church of St. James at Tedstone Delamere in the parish of Whitbourne is just a few minutes drive away and is set in the most breathtaking position with stunning views over open countryside. A rather quirky approach across the surrounding fields may not be great for those heels but the setting is true ‘Larkrise to Candleford’ material.

The Roman Catholic church of St. Joseph can be found in Bromyard, just five miles away and there are churches, synagogues and temples for all denominations between Worcester and Birmingham, a 40 minute drive away.

For Civil ceremonies, Malvern Registration Office is within a magnificent gothic building set amongst lovely grounds on the side of the Malvern Hills and Worcester Registration Office, a more contemporary location within County Hall is away from the city centre and offers landscaped grounds for photographs.

For the perfect romantic setting for your civil ceremony, Greyfriars, a beautiful 15th Century National Trust house in the city of Worcester offers an oak paneled hall, walled garden and a charming timber framed house as a backdrop for your special day.
